Mayaa attended the NIPPO Colonial West show today. This show is unique in that a NIPPO judge is flown in to judge all 6 Japanese breeds. She took best of breed and got this cool ribbon! #nippocolonialwest

Show weekend completed, and Mayaa's AKC debut! Very good performance from the Kai girls! In 6 shows, under 6 different judges, the Kai took Best Of Show (Open – all Foundation Stock and and Miscellaneous breeds) twice! Mayaa took the first show, and Tavi (owned by @omgtain) took the fourth. The girls equally swapped best of breed placement 3 and 3 each. Tavi also earned enough points to complete her Certificate of Merit, which is the equivalent of a championship for an FSS breed! 🎉 Photos were difficult – dark dogs, movement, in a dim room. But I tried! #silverbaykennelclub #akcfss

Mayaa had a playdate with a mini-me! 5 month old Kurisu came to visit. Taiki played too, but he was definitely a third wheel… 😅 The girls played very well together, taking turns stalking and chasing, and Mayaa handicapped herself very well. She actually played longer and more enthusiastically with Kurisu than she's played with Taiki in a long time. The breeds do have slightly different play styles after all. Mayaa certainly enjoyed herself! 😁

Mayaa at the Nihon Ken Invitational on Saturday. She had breed competition for the first time at this event, so the two girls each won breed in one of the two shows. The highlight was meeting up with old friends and making new ones. And the dogs! It's always a fun day to get out and talk with other NK enthusiasts! 😄

Mayaa was her typical self at lure coursing – calm and sleepy in the tent; super excited to start; then sprint, stalk, pounce, repeat! . At the end of a run she either grabs the tug nicely, or has to be carried off the field while staring at the bags and wagging furiously. She also had one "victory lap" where she didn't want to stop and ran around the field until manually captured. 😏
