Mayaa is our first Kai Ken, and the middle child in our pack. She is outgoing and friendly, likes people, children, and most dogs. Mayaa is very food motivated and willing to work with you (for treats!) and always on the hunt for lizards and rabbits. She’s not so much a fetch type of gal, she would much rather chase, catch, and destroy her toys. She is engaging with humans, but is also able to self entertain when alone. This girl is a little mischievous: her favorite games include pouncing on and wrestling with her little brother Taiki, and faking out and chasing her older brother Kouda. She plays gently with younger dogs, and is able to hold her own with her Anatolian Shepherd friend. The prey drive is strong in this one, so she is not a realistic off-leash candidate.
She was quite the rambunctious little firecracker of a puppy: all play and lots of chomping (we called her Mayaa-gator)! As she has grown into an adult, she has become more focused and attentive, and has developed into our most stable and well-rounded dog.
Mayaa is an import from Japan. She has tested clear of genetic diseases, and has excellent physical health. She is the second of three Kai Ken to ever receive an OFA hip rating of Excellent in 19 years, and the first to receive OFA CHIC certification! She enjoys agility obstacles and loves lure coursing – she is the first Kai Ken with BCAT and CAX coursing titles!
