Importing a dog

We would like to consider importing new puppies and / or adults for our program, should an amazing individual from complementary lines become available. Any import would go through the same placement process that our own puppies would (new owner screening + structural and temperament testing).

Breeding candidates would be co-owned and need to be kept intact until 2 years old for health testing and evaluation.

The biggest difference in importing a dog is Japan does not typically health test their breeding dogs to the extent we do, so there is always a bit of a gamble with health problems arising. That being said, Mayaa is an import, has excellent structure and temperament, and we are very happy with her.

Countering the potential risk is the benefit of adding diversity to our lines which is always needed. The more options with potential pairings we have helps the entire population in the States. Depending on availability, wait times to get an import dog may be shorter, and the puppy stage is bypassed if the imported dog is an adolescent or adult.

We are not importing dogs at this time.
